About the Josef Stapf Großmarkt GmbH

The Specialist of Freshness in Frankfurt

Our roots

In 1904 Josef Stapf founded his company called Joseph Stapf with enthusiasm, in order to sell his fruits and vegetables at the local market „Markt am Börneplatz“ in Frankfurt. Later in 1928 when the Frankfurter Großmarkthalle was put into operation, Josef Stapf took his chance to essentially expand his business. He moved the comany to the newly build wholesale centre and set up a booth in these new surroundings.

The company Josef Stapf was sold to Erich Holzmann in 1981 who is the uncle of todays Co-Owner, Uwe Sakowski. Uwe Sakowski, working in the company since his youngster age in 1981, took over Josef Stapf in 1999 and gave a new, fresh face to the company with new ideas. Since 2015 Miguel Chavero came in as Managing Director and additional Co-Owner.

The Specialist Concept

As a wholesale company Josef Stapf sells fine, seasonal and fresh products which are carefully selected for the own target group. The strength of the company inspires its clients based on the selection of outstanding grades, high class flavours, regional and organic products and its own demand for high quality.
